8th Grade:
Class discussed how to effectively begin an argument paper with an interesting hook. Students were instructed that:
7th Grade:
Class reviewed different types of nouns and identifying them in sentences. Discussion focused specifically on common, proper, concrete, and abstract nouns.
If students did not finish the worksheets in class, they needed to take these home for homework. They also have reading to complete over the weekend.

- The first line of a paper should not contain any key words from the prompt.
- The come up with a first sentence, students should find ideas that closely connect with the prompt and begin the first sentence about that idea.
- The second sentence should connect the idea in the first clearly with the prompt.
- In the third sentence the student gives their opinion (in an argument essay) about the prompt.
